Meet Benny Craig

I founded Feel Good Hitting in 2015 to help hitters develop much more than just a better swing- my mission is to guide every hitter through the process of building confidence, awareness, and Mental Toughness that lasts and goes far beyond the field and batting cage.

With over 20 years of coaching experience, I’ve enjoyed working with hitters from middle school to the Major Leagues. Helping them refine their mental game, approach, timing, mechanics, vision patterns, adjustability, and the all-important ability to to receive/process feedback, so they feel good going to the plate no matter what!

Before settling in Carmel, I coached at Cal State Los Angeles and at Grossmont High School for three years before becoming the primary hitting coach for the Orleans Firebirds of the prestigious Cape Cod Summer League. For nine Summers I had the privilege to coach and mentor several future MLB players including Kolten Wong, Matt Duffy, Preston Tucker, Bobby Dalbec, Jordan Luplow, Kyle Lewis, Sean Murphy, Jacob Cronenworth, Bryan Reynolds, Alex Call, Edwin Rios, David Fletcher, and Cesar Salazar.

I grew up in San Diego playing multiple sports during grade school before narrowing my focus to basketball and baseball in high school, but ultimately dedicating myself fully to baseball. I attended Grossmont High School, a nationally ranked program that attracted many Major League Organizations and Division 1 schools. I spent three years at UCLA as a switch hitting outfielder, transferred to Loyola Marymount for my senior year which led to me getting drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 19th round of the 1997 Major League Baseball draft. I went on to play professionally for over 10 years including time with the Reds, Astros, and several Independent teams.
